Matthias' passion began almost 20 years ago when he looked up during his first visit to New York—a perspective that continues to fascinate him to this day. His portfolio focuses on architecture and other “plants” of the urban jungle. Amidst visual overload, he seeks balance and creates his own order: vanishing points, minimalism, and geometric divisions form the center of his visual language.
Today, Matthias expresses himself particularly through photography of staircases and stairwells. The variety of perspectives goes beyond looking up from below – he is always searching for new angles and visual possibilities.
Matthias passes on all these experiences and his view of things in his workshops – from the search for balance in urban chaos to the conscious use of perspective and geometry.
