Sebastian Matthias

At the age of 17 I found photography for myself and since that time it never let me go. After school I somehow landed in film business and worked my way up from assistant to spark to gaffer to DoP. My main work area was commercial, business film and music video. Beside my work as cameraman I also owned a Steadicam and worked as Steadicam-Operator on German series like „Fall für 2“ and „Staatsanwalt“ as well as com-mercials, business films and music videos. Within these 20 years in film business I also studied Media-Design, had a family with two kids, lived in London for a while, travelled through Australia...... 2014 I decided to step back and focus on photography again and since that time I had some very nice projects as a photographer. My main work areas are business photography, portrait and product photography - but I have had fashion-shoots as well as weddings, too. My knowlege about light from my time in film business helps me to create outstanding pictures.

When travelling I often just let it flow and completely dive into street photography, absorbing everything that´s happening around me. Beside my work as a photographer I have been teaching photography courses since 2014 and also lecture at universities. I give classes in product photography and Photoshop at Geisenheim University as well as a Photoshop class at AMD Akademie Mode und Design in Wiesbaden.

I would describe myself as a warm and relaxed person. Humor is important for me because I believe that a life without humor is boring. I am open for trying out new ways and see life as an adventure.
