The camera is there, the motivation too – but you still do not know how to produce a movie? Perfect, you can stop worrying because you’ve found what you’re looking for!

In this intensive 15 hours course, our filmmaker instructor will provide you with basics of writing, directing, camera and digital editing, and each student writes, directs, shoots, and edits a short film project.

Each week a different production step is discussed, for each topic there are new exercises and a week to implement them. Best of all: emerging difficulties, problems or questions can be discussed, explained, solved, and avoided the next time!

In these weeks you will be completely immersed in the subject matter, working intensively with your camera and various techniques and improving yourself from week to week. This comprehensive course program provides the perfect foundation for our advanced courses.

You want to join, but cannot join one of the four evenings? No problem. You can make up for the missed lessons in one of the next courses.

What do I have to bring?

Video-receptive camera: DSLR or without mirror or superzoom

Course Outline

This course is divided into 4 topics:

  1. Introduction: Basics, camera operation, editing program
  2. Capture the world: Outdoor shooting at several locations
  3. Editing & Export: Please check the corresponding courses for the software you prefer to learn editing & export: Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Da Vinci Resolve.

At the beginning of each session the homework of the past week is shown, difficulties encountered and constructive feedback given.


This 15-hour course covers the following:

  • Basic knowledge about filming: frame rate, resolution, settings
  • Settings: Use of ISO, shutter speed, and aperture, image profile
  • Using different lenses and accessories: When do I use something?
  • Creative techniques: Create depth of field, camera movement, stabilization, editing, effects
  • Story: Connection between video clips, logical sequence in the film
  • Composition: rule of thirds, landscape to portrait photos, objects in the picture
  • Learning by doing – practical exercises, tasks to be discussed, direct and targeted feedback
