Katharina Bertaggia

Photography has been a part of Katharina Bertaggia’s life since her youth. After training as a 3D polydesigner and spending several years in the advertising industry, she decided to pursue her passion more deeply and completed a photography course at the New York Institute of Photography.

Today, she works in various fields of photography. Her work ranges from landscape and travel photography through to portraits, photojournalism and sports photography. She is particularly fascinated by the versatility of the medium: capturing the tranquillity and power of a landscape just as much as a personal expression in a portrait or the dynamism and emotion of a decisive moment in sport. Mountains and black-and-white photography play a special role in her independent photographic work. By reducing her images to light, shapes, contrasts and textures, she is able to distil moods down to their essence and imbue her images with a unique sense of tranquillity and intensity.
